Operation With Unity Feeding Our Community
In response to the economic hardships caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, the Toledo Buffalo Soldiers, in partnership with Off The Rails food trolley, initiated “Operation With Unity Feeding Our Community” on March 19, 2020. This operation utilized a mobile commercial kitchen to prepare hot meals on-site, addressing the urgent need for food in economically distressed areas.
With many families facing job losses and schools closing, leaving children without access to meals, our mission was clear: provide immediate assistance to those most affected. Through collaborative efforts with charitable organizations, we distributed over 15,000 meals to Lucas County Housing Authority residents.
In addition to providing nourishment, we recognized the importance of equipping our community with knowledge on disaster preparedness, particularly in the context of the pandemic. We offered valuable information and resources to help families prepare for emergencies effectively.
We sincerely appreciate our partners from both the private and public sectors whose support was instrumental in the success of this initiative. Together, we have made a tangible difference in the lives of children and families facing adversity.
